Venus Flytrap Carnivorous Plant 3 Inch Pot

CARNIVOROUS PLANTS: Carnivorous plants have the most bizarre adaptations to low-nutrient environments. These plants obtain some nutrients by trapping and digesting various invertebrates. Because insects are one of the most common prey items for most carnivorous plants, they are sometimes called insectivorous plants. It is not surprising that the most common habitat for these plants is in bogs and fens, where nutrient concentrations are low but water and sunshine seasonally abundant. As many as thirteen species of carnivorous plants have been found in a single bog (Folkerts, 1982). Most plants absorb nitrogen from the soil through their roots. But carnivorous plants absorb nitrogen from their animal prey through their leaves specially modified as traps.
Nature provides this remarkable plant with "traps" to lure and capture it's food. The traps are covered inside by tiny hairs and a sticky sweet smelling substance attractive to insects. When an insect touches the trigger hair, the trap is activated and closes around it's victim. After digestion of it's meal (whick takes several days), the trap will open again for a new catch.

PLANTING AND CARE:
Keep moist at all times, rainwater or distilled water are preferred. Plants should not be fertilized (so therefore should be separated from your other plants). The insects it catches provide natural nourishment. Select a sunny window for your Venus Flytrap. In replanting only use sphagnum! Peat moss will do in a pinch. Put a plastic saucer underneath the plant to hold water and keep it's humidity proper but do not stand in a dish of water.
You will receive:

How doth my garden grow?

How doth my garden grow?

Actually, pretty darned good! This is a little section of the garden at my shore house. Since the conditions here at the shore are totally different than in my gardens at home, I am experimenting with what will work and what won't.I was glad that the hydrangea in the middle (it got 2 little blooms this year!) is still alive.I planted it last year and it was so hot that the poor thing really struggled to keep a green leaf, but it has bounced back nicely. The crepe myrtle back in the corner should bloom soon. I have decided that wave petunias are the way to go along the edge of the railroad tie next year.....I only planted 2 plants in this section of the garden and look how much they spread!
Okay........I have the flowers now, where are the butterflies???

Day 2 of the back yard project !! What front lawn i had is now buried under a skip, a huge pile of dirt & pavers. My back yard has small piles of dirt over it ( which the dogs had a lot of fun playing in last night ) and the inside of my house is covered in a thick layer of dust !!
Very much looking forward to the middle of next week when it all should be finished .....

Silver Dollar Eucalyptus 25 Seeds-Houseplant or Outdoor

The stiff, rounded leaves of the Eucalyptus Cinerea look like silvery coins attached directly to the branches. Eucalyptus is a fast growing houseplant that's often used in dried flower arrangements. It's virtually pest free, and you'll find it very easy to grow under a wide range of home conditions.
The Eucalyptus cinerea grows to an average of 20 to 30 feet tall. Young leaves are round, grey-green, and about 1 inch in diameter and grow opposite each other on the stem. The flowers are a creamy white and grow in 1 inch clusters. The bark is reddish-brown and fibrous. The Eucalyptus must grow in sunny, dry climates because it does not tolerate cold weather. Eucalyptus trees are found commonly in the plains and savannas of Australia.
The Eucalyptus tree serves as primary food to the koala bear. Bees are attracted to the flowers of the Eucalyptus, and the honey from these bees is highly prized in Australia. Because of its aromatic and long lasting quality, the young leaves are a "best seller" in flower stores.
Doctors and herbalists around the world use Eucalyptus in medicines to treat many sicknesses such as: infections, colds, flu, sore throats, bronchitis, pneumonia, aching, stiffness, neuralgia and even some skin infections.
Eucalyptus trees are native to Australia, but they are also found in the western United States, especially in Arizona, California, and Nevada. They can be planted anywhere where there is a hot, dry climate.
